It has an exterior coating of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) which offers you excellent protection and good impact resistance. Weight should not be a concern since it is equipped with lightweight Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) in the internal shell which absorbs impacts very effectively and lasts a long time.
